A Couple Requests......

A couple folks have requested a list

of flowers that bloom each month as

we have something blooming all the 

time.  

One person asked how do we keep

the yard so weed free.  Look again

there is a bumper crop of dandelions

and thistle out there!  We even have

strange grass growing which we never

had before.  When I pointed it out, they

were amazed.  I have to use Roundup to

try to kill it.  I have had to use more 

Chemicals these past few years than I

have in the past 35+ years we have lived

here.

I will be adding more post when I get time

as I'm currently dealing with a couple of

family members medical emergencies.   

Hummingbirds

 Yesterday while deadheading I 

had a pair of hummingbirds visit.

The female landed next to me on 

the tomato cage while the male 

buzzed me to go in.  But the female

just sat there, I could hear a noise 

coming from her.  I slowly moved

to the other side of her and she didn't

move, soon the male joined her.  I

was shocked that they both sat there

watching, they must of approved.

I deadheaded two rose bushes before

they flew off.   What scared them off

was a couple local cats were trying to 

sneak into the yard.  Time for more

soap and pepper to go out.

I have had a female in the past come

sit on my shoulder and learned that the

long hair needs to be up!

I just love to see all the birds playing 

in our yard!  My favorite is the hummingbirds

and the yellow lowland finches.

Sad to say this but today I had to pick up

the 6th dead bird.

I put a few things on Craigslist as they

needed to find a new home.   I met a 

couple of great folks today that will 

give them a place to go.   A big Thank 

You and it was great meeting you.

I'm still trying to empty out both 

greenhouses so watch for more plants

that need to find homes!

Another great day for meeting plant 

lovers!  It is the highlight of my day

to find such great folks to share my 

passion with.

May 1 is our opening date so please

make an appt. if you want to visit our

gardens.  Remember these are our 

private gardens!   

Seeing Pink!!

 

Our Tree Peony is starting to show her colors.

The higher temps we have seen this

spring has really taken a tole on these

spring bloomers.
