Perennial Hibiscus

Went out this am to find that the
Perennial Hibiscus is starting to
open.  Some of the plants were
leaning so I had to use the deer
wire to hold them up.  More photos
to come.

This is our pink hybrid.

Here is a photo she shared about
the seeds she offered.

Just starting to open!!

This am, she is a double.

Last year I shared plants with
a friend and he has really gotten
this plant to take off.

Here is some of his photos.

He currently has several plants and he
has them in bloom.  Blooms are different
from these.

Love the color change!   One shouldn't judge
the first bloom as the second my be different.

Went to hybridize her last night and found
this.  Not a double but a triple.  I hope she has
a seed pod!

Next set of blooms.

When I was able to hybridize the first bloom,
I found that the inner corolla tube was fused
with the anthers and I was only able to get one
anther with pollen.   The first one was hybridized
with B. Shorty's pollen.

The one about was hybridized with B. Frosty Pink
pollen.

Now we wait for the other three to open.

Datura Missouri Marble

A dear friend sent me two plants this
year after I was unable to obtain some.
These are very special plants and I just
love their variegation!

Yes, I have plenty of pollen to use on
our second attempt to cross a Brugmansia
and a Datura.

Bloom #2

8/3/2021

The first two blooms were crossed with B.
Shorty's pollen and the third bloom with B.
Frosty Pink.

Then this evening when our B. Sorro opened I was
able to cross it with D. MM pollen.

This bloom I crossed with B. Frosty pink.  I also
removed the anther and once it's open so no pollen
will touch the stigma.

Another bloom was found today 2/09/2021 and I
just allowed it to do it's thing but I removed the
anthers so we will see if it self pollenates.  No
pollen unless the bees find other pollen.

The smaller second plant is starting to bloom!

In my attempts to save both plants I dug them up and
put then in pots yesterday.  They still look great this
am.

Second flush of blooms

First flush of blooms.

Hoping for a third flush this year.  She loves
the heat we have been having.
