Getting Ready To Plant!

I was asked where we got these.  Amazon!!
I was looking to replace the one I got from
Park seeds many moons ago.  I came across
these after finding the one I have has a steep
price.    I ordered just one and boy were they
nice and small and don't take up much room.
I filled the first ones fast and then ordered
two more.

On these you just have to pop in the vent
black circle in the top cover and put the
middle into the black trays.  Fill with dirt
and put on the cover.

Yesterday was planting Tomatoes, Peppers,
and Hibiscus.

With today is our Daturas after they
soak over night.

All done and now they just need to
grow.

way to 2022 Veggie Garden!

I have taken all the Tomatoes out to
the one greenhouse and brought the
containers from the garage potting
table inside up under the lights.

Here They Come

Peonies!!

It is just so much fun watching there come up!

Hoop House

It's here!!   Got to wait until the ground drys
a bit to set it up.  Got to give the Hostas some
shade!

On Hold!!  Missing parts and issues.

Have spent the last couple days dealing with
this company to get the parts.   We have
removed it to the deck and are moving
another direction to protect the gardens.

I just got confirmation that the new parts
are on their way!  They are also going back
to the engineering dept and hopefully iron
out the issues on these.  All connections should
have wholes so they pipe are connected
securely and not what we got as the pipes
can slide out.

I didn't have time to build another PVC
greenhouse and thought this one would
work.  It can be taken down and moved.

Bless you Pearl for all your help!!

Well another attempt to put it up and
let's just say not!  The new pieces were
not any better than the first pieces.
The welds aren't holding and I think it
will be best to put it up over by the
kiwi and let them climb up it.  Or it
will be used to hold the corn up next
year.

Lets Talk Clivia

I have been ask for information on Clivias
and just received this from another grower
which I think it is good advice.

I recently was on a quest to find the best way
to clean the water spots off the leaves.  Last
year I put them in the brug house with the
eppies over the top of them, so when I would
water the eppies they would drip and water
the Clivias.  Some folks recommend the
cleaning of leaves monthly.  What I found
that works best if equal amounts of Lemon
juice and water.  Some of the ones that
haven't been cleaned a while the water
spots need another rubbing.

Spring Cleanup

Back yard all raked of fir needles and I noticed
some eyes of the hostas are up.  Hellebores
are starting to bloom.  I know the fence needs
some attention again but until they remove the
trees we aren't going to fix it.  Veggie Garden
will be cleaned up after the trees are remove.
The plastic over the beds are covered with
fir needles.

Have been working on the front yard to get
it ready to grow.  Cleaning up and stirring up
the mulch, I have some seeds to get out but
they say our weather should turn cold for a
few days.

April 15th Opening Gardens

Every year we open the gardens on April 15th
but this year it's going to be delayed.  We
received a certified letter from the neighbors
to the west and in this letter we were
informed that they are taking out the
last 4 -- 80+ foot fir trees on April 9th
and they stated that it could take
2 to 3 days.

We are glad they are finally taking them
out due to all the damage these trees have
done to our fence and yard over the past years.
Again recently we had branches come down
and again a letter was sent to them due to
branches dangling.

On Nov. 16th of 2017 if you remember that
post they removed 2 trees on the north due
to what our Arborist we hired and a local
tree trimmer told them that they were split.
Here is the mess they left us during the
growing season.  We had asked in our
letter that they do not do of this during
the growing season as our yard will
take the blunt of their removal.

We had wood chips all over the yard
roof and driveway out front.  No notice
and no way to protect our beautiful
gardens.  We watched their tree
trimmers cut these down and no way
would we allow them into the yard
due to the plants were already up.

Again they have offered to cleanup
our yard and we have written them
back with a decline as again this
isn't the time of year for them as
our gardens will be up.   Our
original letter to them in 2017
stated they need to do their
cutting when the yard is dormant.

Besides I have just spent the last couple
weeks cleaning up the winter mess to
allow for the plants to come up.  We
are already seeing spring plants pop up.

The cleanup was done so that when I
have knee surgery it won't have to be
done and I can rest for the gardening
season.

It's cleaned of the fir needles and it better
stay this clean!

Last date for frost is the 15th of April!

We are in the process of trying to figure
out how we can safely cover the back yard
and not do damage to the plants that
are currently coming up.

We also are concerned about the branches
that have been dangling for the past year
that were not taken care of.

Sadly, we are not going to be opening
the gardens until it's safe to allow
visitors.  Please make an appointment
so your trip isn't wasted.  Click the
comment button or if you have our
business card you will find the email
address at the bottom.

Thank you!!

We have the first two pieces of putting
up some shade to keep our hostas safe
when these are removed.

Plans have changed the the greenhouse
isn't going to work like we had hoped.

Here is the plan now.  We are in the process
of putting up two gazebos back to back
and hope to have the tops up by this weekend.
