Loss Of Two Veteran Friends

Some of you know as I posted on FB
that I got word that one of my gardening
friend, Richard has passed away.  His
friend sent me an email about
his passing last month.   I hadn't heard
from him in a couple weeks after we
chatted about making a visit to see
another friend next month.  He checks
in a couple times a week.   So I sent him
an email checking in on him and got no
answer, now I know why.  May he rest
in peace and enjoy gardening on the
other side.

I personally want to thank Flannel
Farms for their tribute to Richard and
for them to know he truly enjoyed all
the videos that they have produced.
There was one more request that
Richard had was to have me send to
them a couple banana starts so that
they could have them there.  This am
I worked out the matter with Mr. & Mrs.
Flannel Farm and as soon as they come
up I will be sending them out.  Richard,
I'm still full filling your requests.  Rest
now in peace.  Let me also shout out to
David the Good for another place that
Richard enjoyed.  Happy Growing and
sharing with others.

We also talked about visiting another
dear friend in April and Richard wanted
to bring his friends here for a visit.  Our
gardens are open for those that might want
to visit.

This comes after loosing another friend
last Oct., Lauren was another guy that
loved coming to the gardens and see
what was growing.  Lauren would check
in daily and it was a shock to get a call
from his friend telling me he was in the
hospital.  During covid they wouldn't
allow folks in the hospital so I wasn't
able to go visit.  May he too rest in peace.

Why am I posting about my friends,
simple.  Do you have a will and some
one with a power of attorney?  Do you
know if you don't the State will step in?
Your poor friends have to find your family
members, so please have contact information
available.   Keep all doc in a safe place and
the person that has the power of attorney
know your final wishes in writing!

Life is just to short!!

Getting Ready To Plant!

I was asked where we got these.  Amazon!!
I was looking to replace the one I got from
Park seeds many moons ago.  I came across
these after finding the one I have has a steep
price.    I ordered just one and boy were they
nice and small and don't take up much room.
I filled the first ones fast and then ordered
two more.

On these you just have to pop in the vent
black circle in the top cover and put the
middle into the black trays.  Fill with dirt
and put on the cover.

Yesterday was planting Tomatoes, Peppers,
and Hibiscus.

With today is our Daturas after they
soak over night.

All done and now they just need to
grow.

started to sprout!!  We are on the
way to 2022 Veggie Garden!

I have taken all the Tomatoes out to
the one greenhouse and brought the
containers from the garage potting
table inside up under the lights.

Here They Come

Hoop House

It's here!!   Got to wait until the ground drys
a bit to set it up.  Got to give the Hostas some
shade!

On Hold!!  Missing parts and issues.

Have spent the last couple days dealing with
this company to get the parts.   We have
removed it to the deck and are moving
another direction to protect the gardens.

I just got confirmation that the new parts
are on their way!  They are also going back
to the engineering dept and hopefully iron
out the issues on these.  All connections should
have wholes so they pipe are connected
securely and not what we got as the pipes
can slide out.

I didn't have time to build another PVC
greenhouse and thought this one would
work.  It can be taken down and moved.

Bless you Pearl for all your help!!

Well another attempt to put it up and
let's just say not!  The new pieces were
not any better than the first pieces.
The welds aren't holding and I think it
will be best to put it up over by the
kiwi and let them climb up it.  Or it
will be used to hold the corn up next
year.

Lets Talk Clivia

I have been ask for information on Clivias
and just received this from another grower
which I think it is good advice.

I recently was on a quest to find the best way
to clean the water spots off the leaves.  Last
year I put them in the brug house with the
eppies over the top of them, so when I would
water the eppies they would drip and water
the Clivias.  Some folks recommend the
cleaning of leaves monthly.  What I found
that works best if equal amounts of Lemon
juice and water.  Some of the ones that
haven't been cleaned a while the water
spots need another rubbing.
