North of the Bomb Cyclone!

Today we dipped in temps, the rain hit
and the wind kicked up again.  Not going
out until it's stops raining!  Getting tired
of the high wind and watching the trees
sway!!

What a mess!

1/5/2023

The winds hit over night and today will
be cleanup day.  Photos at first light.
They are saying winds at 40 to 50 MPH.

While out taking Sable out more branches came
down and she was pelted by pine cones.

The last photo shows what flew over the house
to hit the deck.

You know what I'll be doing today!

2 1/2 hours to rake up the mess that
went all the way to the west fence!

1/2 hours to pickup and put away all the tools.
our 64 gallon yard debris can was totally full
and the smaller 64 yard debris can was 3/4
full and if I step in the can I'll have some room
for a little more.  Now when the rain stops
I'll be out to vac the area to clean up more.

Really had issues of breathing by the time
I was done.

Still blowing so we will have more later, plus
the roofs and gutters will need to be done

1/6/2023

A nice day to pickup pine needles,  2 1/2
buckets of pine needles and 1 bucket of
leaves that have blown in.  Our leaves from
our tree were picked up months ago so this
is neighboring trees.  No one picks up their
tree leaves!!

New Eve's Fireworks

What a night of fright!  Starting  a little after
dark until after 2:30 AM.

Our poor dog was so afraid and stressed
out she couldn't keep any food down.

Folks just don't care!

2023 Log For Cleanup Time

1/1/2023

Today I took 2 - pickle buckets of
Pine needles off Sable's  and north
of the carport area.
Plus 1 - pickle bucket of leaves off
the north lawn area.

1/3/2023

Again today I removed 1 - pickle
bucket of Pine needles off Sable's
area.  Plus 2 buckets of leaves from
the west and south garden beds.
Can I say I hate Maple leaves??

1/5/2023

3 hours of work to pickup the
64 gallon yard debris bin full
and the other 3/4 full.  When
it stops raining I'll have to vac
again.  Ya can't rake up all the
pine needles.

1/6/2023

2 hours worth of work to pickup
1 bucket of leaves that blew in.
2/1/2 buckets of pine needles.
We still have the roofs and
gutters to clean out.

1/11/2023

For the past few days I spend have
been picking up what falls over the
fence.  We have picked up 3 buckets
when the roofs and gutters were cleaned.

Can't wait to see what Thursday's winds
will bring.

1/31/2023

Well today was cleanup day for the yard
before the rain comes in this weekend.
Plus we have had a couple days of high
winds and it's getting trashed again.

1 full pickle bucket of limbs
3 1/2 buckets of needles, smaller
evergreen branches and pinecones.

Sable's area and to the west of the
greenhouse was just covered in pine
needles.

The north fence line was trashed from
their trees.  I had to vac up the flower
beds due to their trees dropping limbs
and pine tree junk, three beds were totally
cover in the stuff.

2/24/2023

Today I had to rake up the limbs from the
trees to the east.  We had high winds, cold
and snow.  The snow had melted enough to
rake up 2 pickle buckets of limbs out of
the neighbor's trees.  I also had to sweep off
the deck as these limbs flew over out roof.
Wind is still blowing so I'm sure have more.

2/27/2023

With the winds over night I was able to
pick up a pickle bucket and half of evergreen
that came out of the north and east
neighboring trees.  I found evergreens
all the way to the west fence!

So now I deal with allergies!

3/1/2023

Today I decided it was time to clean
the north yard, Sable's area, the deck
and some of the pine that flew over the
house in the front.  I removed 4 - pickle
buckets of evergreen needles!!   Thank
goodness it was a good day to clean up
what I was able to do.  More cleanup when
weather permits.

3/9 &10/ 2023

It took me an hour to clean up the yard yet
again!  Why do folks think we enjoy picking
up after their neglected trees???
REMOVE
THEM!!

We will be taking anyone to court if their
trees do damage to our yard!

3/22/2023

After having to stay inside for a couple weeks
I was able to get outside and cleanup Sable's
gravel area.  I took a full bag of needles and
small limbs off her area.
Then I was able to walk the front yard and vac
up the leaves that have blown into the yard.
It wasn't as bad as it was the first of the month.

3/28/2023

Yesterday was another windy and wet day.  I had
to cleanup the yard 4 times and when we get
another dry day have to vac up all the needles.
I went to bed last night to coughing like crazy.

Cross Stitching!!

I had hoped to get in here to start the lessons
on cross stitch but ended up in working on
the current project to get is finished soon.

Coming along nicely.

This up coming Friday 1/27/2023 marks the one
month working on this project.  I'm a little over
1/2 done!

32 days and I can say it's done!!

2/27/2023

Finally finished the ballerina that I
started 2 years ago and had to put away
due to the cats everyone was requesting.
I wasn't happy with the pale blue as it
looked so washed out.  So I removed and
put in the copper for a splash of color.

Upper right hand corner shows how it
should look, washed out, no color!

I have time to do a third one for the
winter months but need to find one.

Chainsaw To The North!

Two of the trees came down, the two
dead ones.  So now we watch and see
if the others will come down.  The
Maples are splitting and we all know
if you have a lot of trees growing together
when you remove some the others loose
the sport that was once there.  Not wise
to grow trees so close together.  I kept
dealing with theses two dead pine trees
all year.  I have even noticed the one next
to the two that were remove is starting to
brown also.  Nothing like having dead
evergreen branches and large pine needles
all over our yard.  Then there is the maple
branches that also came down.  None of
these trees are shaped or thinned out, just
allowed to grow with out proper care.

The Maple trees roots are doing damage
to our yard!

When we had the high winds we watched
them sway to the north as the wind was
coming from the southeast.

Our view from our yard, sorry it's not the
full view.  More trees to the east.

Ice, Rains & Winds

First we had on the 23 an Ice Storm
then came on the 26 the Rain hit, with
27 we had over 50 mph Winds!  What
a week so far.

This am when I left for the shot clinic
the van was pelted by falling pinecones.
While awaiting my 30 minutes after the
shot was given the phone stared to bing.
I checked and the tarp had blown off the
greenhouse.  So I hurried home taking the
regular route when I got to the lower area
a limb came down and hit the drivers wind-
shield hitting the wiper.  Thank goodness
I was close to home and didn't turn them
back on until I could adjust them in the
garage.  Got in the house just in time for
the power to go off and one scared fur
baby!!  No power from 10:30am to
4:30pm and the house got cold!!   I also
went out in the rain and put extra sand
bags at each leg of the gazebo after seeing
it try to fly. The poor little girl hates thunder
to the point she will jump into the tub down
the hall when she is scared.  I couldn't get her
to come out of the bathroom at all.  So I put
her blanket in the tub.

Poor Sable's area was covered in limbs and
pinecones!  What a huge mess.  I was able to
get it cleaned up and pull the tarp behind the
fence area.  Tomorrow if the rain lets up I
can put it back on the greenhouse.  I noticed
the light pop on in the greenhouse after I go
the tarp moved.  I quickly went in and rest the
heater, grabbed the rake and cleaned up to the
north of the carport, then went inside the
Brug House and rest that heater for the night.
It was starting to get dark so it will have to
all wait until light.

The news stated we had close or over 5 inches
of rain in the past 48 hours.  To watch for falling
trees due to what we have seen in the last few
days.  Our winds were over 50 mph in the valley
with  Mt Hood having upwards of 75 mph.  Yes,
they closed due to the winds.

What a wild ride!!
