Come On Rain!

92 degrees today so not much got
done.  Blue Berries got cut back,
the nana leaves that were stripped
off the trunks then they were laid
by the south fence, all leaves were cut up and
put in the yard debris bin.  Then
later in the afternoon I was able
to get a couple Clematis cut
back and tucked away.

But the weather folks are saying
rain and in the 70s on Wed.  A better
day to play!

What a great day to play in the rain!
Several down pours and I got a lot
done and cut back. I started the day
by getting the yard debris from out
back and as I walked past the north
lawn and saw all the pine on the
ground.  Got to the deck and it was
all over that too!  Got the bin to the
front and then I took the broom to the
deck, picked up a full dust pan of pine.
I then cut back a few Perennial Hibiscus
as it wasn't 9:00am to mow.   When it was
time to mow I dropped the mower blade
all the way down to pick up the pine mess.
When I emptied the mower bag it was
mainly pine mulched up.  Then I got to
back to work on cutting down the
Perennial Hibiscus until the rain hit
and I switched to doing the Clematis
on the south side of the driveway.  Putting
them away after they were cut back.
They all needed to rest for the winter
months.

Lipton Ice Tea Unsweetened

I have just learn that they are going to
discontinue this 3 oz jar that makes 30
quarts.  My favorite tea that isn't
sweetened or flavored.  I do not do the
bottled teas at all, just don't like the taste.

As far back as I can remember there was
a jar of Lipton Tea in the cabinet.

So sad.

September's Clean up

This evening was time to cleanup the
mess up under the north trees.  I removed
'4 full bags' of maple leaves, needles and
can now see the the mulch that was put
down earlier this year.   My yard is now
cleaned again.

We will see how long it takes the tree service to
dump into our yard.  It's to be in the 90s today!
So you think it's wise to cover the bed, nope!!
Yes, we sit higher than the lot to the north as
the farmer made a 9 foot drop cut right by our
fence!  Ya think the water runs down hill??

I have the rain barrels close to the deck covered.

The tree service did a nice job keeping the wood
chips to the north of our fence as they did trees
north of the ones on the fence line.  We will see
if this continues.  They say rain tomorrow!

9/25/2026

Well I was out early before the rain hit at noonish!
Got the bin pulled to the front and while walking
across the north lawn I saw all the dead pine across
the grass area.  Yep, even on the deck.  No way to
pick that up and so I mowed this am.  I swept off the
deck and picked up a full dust pan of what fell.  When
I mowed there was more pine than grass in the catcher.

They left the dying trees that drop the pine and we
were told one Maple would taken out.  Guess he
lied again.  For years now we have dealt with the
tree roots pulling up our fence and bowing.  One
time when DH tried up level the fence he removed
a section and got yelled at.  You see they removed
their fence that the hearing examiner stated they
needed.  So when DH removed a section to fix it
what can one say??  Since these trees were all planted
about the same time they became supports for each
other.  So if you remove some, what will happen if they
don't have that support??  I know and we were watching
today as they swayed with the wind.  Now comes the
leave gathering as they have been coming down now
for a few weeks. Tree roots are a pain to deal with.

Today after cleaning up from the East tree service
I was able to vac up the leaves and pine out of the
three north beds, peony bed and off the deck.  1 1/2
buckets of pine with a lot of leaves.

Photos to come.

The Year of the Skeleton----Happy Halloween!

This year we decided to do Skeletons
as our main item for Halloween.  I started
gather and putting out the first items the
end of August.

Early this week, I got bones # 2 & 3 to
add to the collection.  One 5 footer and
one 10" to go by the front door.

But it wouldn't sit in the black cloth, so
I hung him on the plant pole.

The 5 footer was placed on top of the arbor.

Then Sunday, today I got Bones #4, well there
is only one spot for this one! Right out front!

Here is the start post:

Ms Rot greets you at the
door.  In the evening you
will find green, purple and
red twinkle lights lighting
up the area.

Our Ludger Project 2024

I had put this Brugmansia away for
the winter month a few weeks ago
when I put them all away.  But she
was full of buds and when they started
to open she was unhappy.  So mid week
I pulled her out.  She has been blooming
on the driveway!

This is a hybrid from a European hybridizer that
shared seeds for testing with several folks.   It is
an honor to be trusted in growing her to the lovely
plant she is today!

Yes, we strip the leaves when they go inside the
Brugmansia House.  Less mess and there is a difference
from the outside leaves and the inside leaves.

This am when I pulled the recycle bins up I noticed
a faint orange would the edge of the bloom.

9/28/2024

I have been collecting pollen from this aurea cross
if hybridizer would like some.  Let me know, I can send
vials or in plastic bags.
