Again!!

Again we have to deal with a neighboring
tree branch coming down.  Two weeks ago
we had high winds and another branch coming
down.  After we sent them a letter that this is
coming down they only tie a rope on it.  We
are taking bets how long this will stay this way.
Yes, again we had to contact the insurance
company as it's right over our fence.   There
is no way we are going to take care of this.
Not our tree!!

Earlier this year we had another branch
come down from the east neighboring tree,
just missed the classic car.  Needless to
say they weren't happy to find this large
limb in their yard.  Why should we pay
to remove their junk??  Our yard debris
is full and they are not our trees.

3/23/2010

About mid morning there was a sound of
chainsaw!!  Yep, finally they were going
to have the issue solved!   Not!!  They had
their tree service out and let's just say they
left a mess!!  Come on folks, hire a tree arborist
to assess your trees not a cheap service!
The saga will continue as they are now top
heavy and trimmed upward to 25 to 30 feet
from the ground.   They remove lots of dead
or broken branches but left some also.  The limb
that had fallen was over 25 footer and I watched
them several times hit the fence.  Not only that
but they were on the retaining wall and hands
on the fence to try to look over.  Our fence is 6
foot so you know they couldn't see anything with
out climbing onto it.

No one let us know they were going to do work
until afterwards when someone came to the door
and requested to clean up our yard.  Say what??
I have made a request and told all our neighbors
that no access to our yard during growing season!
He was lucky I didn't call the Sheriff as 'Our yard'
is clearly posted.  I don't need some inexperienced
person walking all over our garden beds.

Limbs were dropped and several of the plants markers
were hit.  I had a couple branches hit plants, what can
one say but they are careless again!!

The last photo is of the lowest branch that was
bent due to the branches that fell on it.  It was
left and we are just speechless!  Why leave this
lower branch that was damaged?   But again
one needs to hire an arborist to make sure
that the tree is done correctly!

Spring!!

Just some of our early bloomers!!

March 2020

Just watching the garden grow!!
Mowing weekly and making sure
everything is getting watered.
We moved some of the hardier
perennials out of the garage but the
frost nipped them so when it warms
up some, they will get nipped back
to the soil.

We are busy trying to keep the
clematis contained within the netting
that helps support them as they start to grow.
We are shocked that some are trying to bud.

Starting to plan the veggie garden and our
seeds were ordered.
We received them last week so as soon as
it warms up it will be time to plant!

I will have to clean up the fir needles
again as we have had some strong wind.

Our Stats!!!

Wow, over 17,400 views since
we started our blog!!  So after talking
to a friend who suggested I nose around
and see why?  I can point to a couple things.

First, my FB is locked down so I
won't accept friends!  But I have joined
a couple groups as of late.  I know that
hasn't made that big of a jump in my stats.
I then viewed where the traffic is coming from.
So I checked a few folks'  FB pages this past week.
It is clear why now.

Secondly, our information is our research!!!
Respect it as we have asked others if we could
use what we did.  I have been talking to my
husband about this and he suggested I
remove my research.  I now know why some
folks won't share their secrets.....so grab the
chemicals you think you need!   But ask your
self if you seriously think it's good for the plants
you use them on.  I also look at it this way, why
would you buy plants from one that has issues??
Chemicals use should be the last resource.  Many
sites stress a natural way of caring for your plants
that you have stressed, over fertilized or neglected by
not paying attention to them.  You have invited these
critters to feast on your plants!

Each gardener is different!!
Just take a look at the yards around you!!

I also learned that I'm selling my plants to cheaply,
that is now going to change!!   For those of you
across the pond, no import/export permits here
and we do not ship over there.   I respect my business
license and the laws that one are required to abide by.

March 14th 2020

We woke up this am to this!!

Last weekend we had high winds and my husband went out to pick up the
yard.  He came in not to happy as he heard cracking noises!!   He took photos
of the limb coming down and made copies to send to our west neighbor!!

Today it's snowing and we are to have more winds!!

Yea Phil, early spring!!   So glad I didn't start moving the plants out of the
greenhouse like some folks.   Last date of frost is the 15th of April!!!

Our Gardens . . . .

Are closed and we don't know if we will be opening the gardens this
year due to the virus.  Check back in mid April.

This too will give us time to do our projects we have planned for the year.

We also learned today that one of our friends is talking about closing their brugmansia
site when we noticed that their site was not secure.  I thanked them for the headsup.

I will not go into a site that isn't secure, I value my computer to put it at risk!!  Read
up on sites that are not secure!!

B. Shorty's Variegated Post

On FB was removed as we have requests now that go out 3 years and
do not want anymore requests to come in.  Need to full fill what orders
we currently have first.

From the orders that have come in on FB, I went and reviewed some
of the folks that made requests.  First, I have a business license and
do not have an export/import permits so those folks will not get this
brugmansia as I value my business license!!  The law states no E/I permit
no shipping across the pond!!!  I will not import or export!!

Secondly, I am checking into a doc. to have those that made request and
will need to have it signed before releasing our special Brug.  I don't feel
that folks understand what we do here and nor should they profit from
this Brug.  I paid dearly for it and it has been almost 20 years of learning
about it's care and compared it to other variegated plants.  We are talking
about our research and the cost to us.  So if you are planning on profiting
from what we do, think again!!

I have not hidden what we do here and from what we learned about crossing
variegated plants, it's not for the breeder types to grow.  There is no guarantee
this brugmansia will grow without the proper understanding.  We here are not
in this for profit, we are for education!  Many times we have had folks come
back to us and they have either killed their brugmansia or can't get it to do what
we do here.

I truly understand why folks don't tell others how to grow them because each
gardener is different and if you see something that is pretty, you should under
stand the care before buying.  Brugmansia take a lot of care and nurturing to do
what they do.   So admire the photos that folks share!!   I truly know what they do
to get them to bloom and shine!!

Yes, we removed the post for the sake of us and working to make sure the plants we
send out are going to make a great plant for those that obtain her.  Folks do not have
our permission to use our photos either.
